It’s Wednesday, the first day of July, and day 3 of Wimbledon. Temperatures exceeded 40 degrees C on court today, making it officially the hottest day ever at Wimbledon.
Liam Broady
During his match against David Goffin, Liam Broady had a laugh when a rogue PA announcement asked an official to go to the tea room.
Bernard Tomic
After his match against Pierre-Hughes Herbert, Bernard Tomic complained about the heat and feeling dizzy during the match. He suggested some kind of heat rule be imposed. In the French Open they have the “ice sausage” ( ice cubes wrapped in a big towel and tied in a sausage shape to drape around the players’ necks).
Nick Kyrgios
During his match against Juan Monaco (Argentina), Nick hit one of the fastest rocket returns ever seen at Wimbledon.
Kei Nishikori
Having downplayed the seriousness of his calf injury, Kei Nishikori pulled out of the tournament today.
Heather Watson
Looking strong and confident, Heather Watson beat Daniela Hantuchova in straight sets with a series of strong groundstrokes with good margin over the net and away from lines, and a killer serve which has been honed by her coach Greg Rusedski.
Novak Djokovic
Novak beat Niemenen convincingly in what looked at times like a game of cat and mouse, although Niemenen scurried brilliantly along the baseline in a series of fantastic rallies.
