I love playing tennis in London, there are so many outdoor public tennis courts and private tennis clubs to choose from. However, indoor tennis courts in London are relatively rare, and in particularly high demand in the winter for obvious reasons. One of these rare locations is Redbridge Sports Centre. There are 8 indoor tennis courts and 6 outdoor tennis courts.
Location
Forest Road, Ilford IG6 3HD. Nearest tube station is Fairlop, on the Central Line (zone 4). Redbridge Sports Centre (run by Redbridge Sports & Leisure) is right nextdoor to the tube station, a major plus for non-drivers.
Prices
At the time of writing, non-members pay £33.20 an hour for an indoor tennis court. There is an Executive Membership for £67.90 a month, which entitles you to book and play as many times as you like without any court booking fees. As an Executive Member, if you invite a non-member, they have to pay £15.60/hour guest fee. There are promotional offers from time to time, ring reception on 020 8498 1010 for details.
Coaching
Tennis coaches are available at Redbridge Sports Centre, one highly-regarded one (according to Google Reviews) is Steve Russell.
Opening Times
Ring reception on 020 8498 1010 for current opening times, but at time of writing they are:
Weekdays: 6.30am – 11pm
Saturdays: 8am – 9pm
Sundays: 8am – 10pm
Booking a Court
Bookings are online, through the RSL mobile app. Google Reviews mention that the indoor tennis courts get booked up fast, as indoor tennis courts in London are few and far between.
